Code of Conduct
The Congress of the European Society for Evolutionary Biology (ESEB) 2025 is committed to fostering an environment that promotes diversity, inclusion, and professional conduct. All attendees, including delegates, organisers, speakers, exhibitors, and staff, are expected to adhere to this Code of Conduct throughout the event.
Expected Behaviour
- Treat all individuals with respect, courtesy, and consideration.
- Communicate openly and thoughtfully while being mindful of diverse perspectives.
- Respect personal boundaries and cultural differences.
- Adhere to all applicable laws and regulations governing professional conduct.
- Ensure that all presentations, discussions, and interactions uphold principles of inclusivity and scientific integrity.
Unacceptable Behaviour
- Harassment, discrimination, or exclusion based on gender, race, ethnicity, religion, disability, age, sexual orientation, or any other protected status.
- Any form of physical, verbal, or non-verbal intimidation, including bullying or threats.
- Unwelcome sexual advances, inappropriate physical contact, or sexually suggestive behaviour.
- Use of language or imagery that is inappropriate, offensive, or demeaning.
- Disruptive behaviour that interferes with presentations, discussions, or Congress activities.
Reporting Violations
- Any violations of this Code of Conduct should be reported promptly to the designated ESEB2025 Chair or Technical Secretariat.
- Confidentiality will be maintained to the extent possible, and appropriate actions will be taken in accordance with ESEB’s established procedures.
- A designated private space will be available for confidential conversations related to Code of Conduct concerns.
Consequences of Violations
- Individuals found in violation of this Code may be subject to actions including, but not limited to, verbal or written warnings, exclusion from Congress activities, or removal from the event without refund.
- Severe breaches may result in additional consequences as deemed necessary by ESEB.
- By registering for the Congress, all attendees agree to abide by this Code of Conduct and uphold the principles of professionalism, respect, and inclusivity. Our goal is to ensure a safe and productive environment for all participants.
